Gestify is a browser extension for Chromium-based browsers (including Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge) that provides intuitive gesture-based controls for online video playback — including swipe to seek, vertical gestures for volume and brightness, long-press speed control, customizable zone mapping, A-B loop, and more. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices. This privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

• All gesture processing is performed entirely locally on your device
• We do not sell or share your personal information
• We do not collect browsing history, video viewing habits, or any content from websites you visit
• You have full control over your data

Browser Permissions

The following permissions are required for Gestify to function properly:

• activeTab: Required to inject gesture control scripts into the active tab when you interact with a video. This permission is only active for the tab you are currently viewing and does not grant access to other tabs or background data.
• storage: Used to save your gesture preferences, zone mapping configurations, speed presets, and other extension settings locally on your device. No data is transmitted to external servers.
• scripting: Essential for injecting the gesture detection and video control scripts into web pages containing video players. This enables Gestify to recognize your touch/mouse gestures and translate them into video playback commands.
• host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required because Gestify needs to work on any website that contains video content. This permission allows gesture control scripts to be injected on video pages across any domain. It does NOT mean Gestify reads or collects data from all websites — scripts are only injected when a video is detected and gesture controls are activated.

Our Commitment to Privacy

• All gesture detection and video control processing is performed locally on your device
• No video URLs, viewing history, or browsing data is collected or transmitted
• No personal data is uploaded to any server
• Permissions are used solely for enabling gesture-based video controls

Information Collection and Use

Local Data Storage:

• Extension settings and user preferences (gesture sensitivity, zone layout, speed presets, etc.)
• PRO license status (stored locally after verification)

We do NOT collect or store:

• Browsing history or URLs you visit
• Video content or viewing habits
• Personal information
• Passwords or login credentials
• Any data from web pages you visit

Data Removal:

• All local data is automatically removed when you uninstall the extension
• You can reset all settings to defaults through the extension options at any time
• No residual data remains on external servers as none is ever transmitted

• Gesture detection (swipe, vertical drag, long-press, tap)

Optional Network Communication

The following features involve minimal network communication:

• License Verification: When using PRO features, a one-time license check is performed via our secure API to verify your membership status. Only your anonymous device identifier is transmitted — no personal data, browsing history, or video information.
• Uninstall Feedback: If you choose to submit feedback upon uninstalling, only the feedback reason you select and an optional email (if you provide one) are transmitted.

Your Rights and Controls

• View and manage extension permissions in your browser settings
• Customize or disable any gesture controls through the extension options
• Reset all settings to defaults at any time
• Uninstall the extension to remove all local data instantly

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
